Welcome to The Wood Look, our small family run business where we provide personalised wooden gifts for special occasions.
It all started back in 2018 when I (James) received a lovely wedding gift from my partner (Sam). It happened to be a lovely wooden watch.
I had never seen anything like this before and found it to be incredibly unique. After showing it to my friends and family, they too, had never seen a watch made almost entirely from wood.
Unfortunately the watch didn't come with simple instructions or any sort of box to keep it safe when not worn. At this point, I saw a gap in the market.
From that moment, I was hooked and started to create a business case working out the areas that I could improve on, if I was to make this a success.
Looking back it was a huge risk, but I worked with suppliers around the world to provide a small set of wooden watches for men.
Luckily they were a huge hit!
Don't get me wrong, it wasn't easy by any means. But from the start I wanted to ensure what we offered was a premium experience for the customer. One that was centred around gift giving but remained affordable.
Our watches were (and still are) available with:
- Free personalisation on the back plate where even the font style can be chosen
- Collectors bamboo box and cushion with link adjustment tool.
- Premium branded cardboard gift box with shredded paper insert.
In 2020, despite fears of COVID-19, Sam wanted to get more involved in the business. We started to branch out, by offering a range of womens watches.
Our relatively small range of watches are named after famous locations of which they remind us of.
In 2021 we invested in a purpose built industrial laser to meet demands and give us the opportunity to offer other wooden products on platforms such as Etsy and Amazon.
We now have a wide range of products available, ranging from wooden coasters to olive hearts that have been handmade in Tunisia.
We're proud to say that everything you see is handmade, by either us or our small dedicated team.
And while it has been tough, it has also been incredibly rewarding. Providing gifts for all sorts of memorable occasions including marriage proposals. This, in itself, is a truly magical thing to be a part of.
